Police in Columbus, Ohio, say a man shot to death during an argument was identified as Desmond Allison, a former University of Kentucky basketball player. Police said a heated argument Monday among a group of men at a park on the city's Near East Side turned deadly when one of the men opened fire with a handgun, The Columbus Dispatch reported. Allison, 31, was pronounced dead in Grant Medical Center less than 30 minutes after the shooting, Franklin County Coroner Jan Gorniak said. Another man, Malcolm Goff, 36, was wounded, police said. He was treated at Grant Medical Center for several gunshot wounds and later released. Allison played basketball for the University of Kentucky from 1998 to 2000, scoring 412 points in his 67-game Wildcats career. He was dismissed from the team after a drunken-driving arrest and eventually transferred to Martin Methodist College in Tennessee. Columbus police said they have no suspects in the shooting and are investigating.
