Heurelho Gomes' season is over after he broke his left hand during Friday's win over Dusseldorf, the German club have confirmed. Tottenham stopper Gomes had impressed for Hoffenheim on a six-month loan deal in January, conceding nine goals in nine games. But the 32-year-old will not play again this season after he broke his hand during a collision with Andreas Lambertz in Friday's 3-0 win. Gomes underwent surgery to have four pins inserted in his index finger. He will remain at Hoffenheim for his rehabilitation, Tottenham have confirmed. A statement on Hoffenheim's website read: "Heurelho Gomes will play no more this season for TSG 1899 Hoffenheim. "The goalkeeper withdrew from the Bundesliga match against Fortuna Dusseldorf on Friday night after suffering a fraction of the left metacarpal bone which needs surgery. "The Brazilian will be out for eight weeks." Gomes took to Twitter to thank his fans for their support. He said; "Guys, THANK YOU for the affection from all of you. "Having this support only motivates me even more to come back soon." Gomes, who moved to Spurs in 2008, joined Hoffenheim on loan in January after being relegated to fourth choice thanks to the arrivals of Hugo Lloris and Brad Friedel over the last two years. Despite the departure of Carlo Cudicini, Gomes is still unlikely to get any game time at Spurs next season and he may leave the club in the summer. From: FiFa
