World number 10 Tomas Berdych suffered an injury that will rule him out for the remainder of the 2016 season, the player said today.
The 30-year-old Berdych was hospitalized with appendicitis in Cincinnati in August and had to skip the US Open because of the illness which he cured with antibiotics. He suffered a recurrence and will now give up his spot at the ATP Tour Finals in London.
DPA reported that the player might undergo surgery and quoted him as saying he would like that to happen as soon as possible so that he could start training for next season.
The ATP Tour Finals will start with Novak Djokovic facing Dominic Thiem in the opening rubber.
