Al-Saad al-Zewadi
Tunisia – Hayet al-Ghanami

The head of the Tunisian Institute for Tax Advisors, Al-Saad al-Zewadi said that he was prevented from entering the People's Assembly, despite presence of MP Mabrouk al-Harizi from the Democratic bloc to receive him.

Al-Zewadi said in statements to Arabs Today, that the explanation of the ban, which can not be justified in the presence of the head and members of cabinet, was due to the instructions issued by the presidency of the council.

"These action was made in a flagrant and vulgar manner, which reminded us of the practices of the past regime, which used to exceed the provisions of Chapter 103 of the rules of procedure of the People's Assembly, which clearly stated that the public hearings may be attended by citizens, representatives of civil society, guests and media in the places allocated to them and according to the arrangements controlled by the council," al-Zewadi stressed.

He wondered if it was reasonable and acceptable in a country that praises respect for the constitution, the law and the rules of democracy and human rights to deprive the opposition parliamentary blocs from meeting with civil society organizations in order to provide them with the files of corruption on the day of the plenary session devoted to dialogue with the Prime Minister regarding his campaign against corruption?

The Tunisian official said that the act is out of the law and falls within the category of acts of corruption as defined in Chapter 2 of Law No. 10 of 2017 of 7 March 2017 on reporting on corruption and protection of whistleblowers.

He considered this act is contrary to the law and harms the public interest
