Sudanese Foreign Minister Ibrahim Ghandour stressed Saturday that Egypt and Sudan have no other option but to resort to dialogue to solve their dispute on the Hala’ib territory.
During a joint press conference with Egypt's Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry, Ghandour said no new complaint was filed with the United Nations Security Council to settle the dispute.
The minister said the complaint was filed during the rule of late Egypt's President Gamal Abdel Nasser.
The then Egyptian Representative to the UN requested the freeze of investigations, saying the two Arab states would solve it amicably, the minister added.
He dismissed reports on filing a new report, saying the complaint is being renewed every year to preserve "Sudan's right" to investigations.
Shoukry, on his part, highlighted strong relations linking the two sides, stressing the need to avoid provoking the public in both countries.
The minister pointed out the political leaders in Cairo and Khartoum adopted a clear vision and agreed on reaching a common ground to avoid regional challenges.
