Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El Sisi asserted that confronting security challenges in the region requires advanced equipment capable of reaching areas that cannot be reached with current equipment and therefore Egypt prefers the dependable and very advanced French armament.
In an interview with Europe 1 radio on the Rafale planes deal signed between Egypt and France on Monday, the Egyptian leader said French President Francois Hollande has shown, ever since their first meeting, understanding of the real dangers facing the region and Egypt. He was keen to respond to all out demands regarding security and stability not only in Egypt but also the entire region, Sisi said.
The French technology is excellent and Egypt has Mirage 5 and Mirage 2000 aircraft that have been used for years, the president said, adding that Egypt also has Crotale missiles.
