MP Catherine Maurine underlines Egypt’s role in Middle East

French Parliamentarian Catherine Maurine underlined the importance of role performed by the Egyptian government in the Middle East, saying that the country works seriously to support peace and stability in the region in coordination with the major international powers.
She added, in an interview with “Arabs Today”, that Egypt took the right way on the economic side, praising the measures taken by the government to improve the country’s economic position. She added that the Egyptian government dealt with the economic problems courageously, as it was keen to tell the truth to the Egyptian people over the dangers facing the country during the current critical period.
Regarding the meeting between the French delegation and President Abdel Fattah Al Sisi, she said that they expressed their viewpoints honestly over the current economic crisis, saying that they expressed their concern over the lack of basic needs that should be provided to the Egyptian people during the current period. She added that the president reassured them that the current measures are temporary.
She called the Egyptian government for resuming their policies to achieve political reform during the coming period, stressing the need for carrying out the roadmap aiming to improve the economic position. She stressed her country’s support for the efforts exerted to eliminate extremism as soon as possible, saying that the Egyptian efforts in this regard performed a major role to support the economic situation.
She added that they discussed the ways to push forward the relations between Egypt and France during the coming period in different fields and to exchange the parliamentary experiences to support the economic and security situation in Egypt.
She expressed Paris’ appreciation to the role performed by the Egyptian government to support the stability in Libya and to resolve the Libyan crisis, saying that the Egyptian government performed a major role to resolve the differences between the Libyan conflicting parties.
