Director General of Democratic Front to Liberate Palestine Quess Abdel Kareem said that his party will run for the coming elections scheduled to be held on May 13, saying that the Palestinian arena needs to end the current polarization between Fatah and Hamas.

He blamed, in an interview with “Arabs Today”, both movements for the current weakness witnessed in the Palestinian political life, stressing the need for the emergence of a new strong current in the framework of the democratic coalition to achieve political balance in the Palestinian political life during the coming period.

He added that it was supposed to form a national unity government after the meetings conducted in Beirut and Moscow during the recent months to prepare for the coming elections, while the consultations to form the new government have not started yet. He underlined the major obstacles that prevent the reconciliation, including the issues related to the employees appointed by Hamas and the ways to activate the role of Palestinian Legislative Council.

He added that the position adopted by the U.S President Donald Trump is based on accepting any solution agreed by both Palestinians and Israelis, warning that Trump’s proposal to establish one state for both Palestinians and Israelis is considered a green light to Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu not to withdraw from the Palestinian territories occupied since 1967.

He added, “Netanyahu aspires to achieve security control on the areas located west of the Jordan. The U.S position from the Israel approach could undermine the political process sponsored by the U.S during the last two decades to achieve the two-state solution.”

He called the Palestinian people to support the prisoners in the Israeli prisons during their resistance against the Israeli occupation, saying that it is not the battle of the prisoners only, while the Palestinian people as whole. He stressed that the Palestinians are invited to participate in the campaigns to express solidarity with the prisoners.

He added, “The Palestinian prisoners need the people’s support. The different parties should exert increasing efforts to support them during the coming period.” He called for organizing demonstrations before the international institutions and taking serious moves on the international levels to underline the violations committed by the Israeli occupation.

He also called the international community for taking serious moves to support the Palestinian right and to contain the increasing violations committed by the Israeli government against the Palestinians in it prisons. He called the United Nations and other international organizations for sending investigative committees to monitor the Israeli violations against the Palestinians as soon as possible.
