Colonel Yasser Sabri Shalabi, Defence Attaché at the Egyptian Embassy in Abu Dhabi, has acclaimed the U.A.E.'s stance towards Egypt, saying that the U.A.E. has been and remains one of the biggest supporters of Egypt and of the world.
These comments were made during a speech given by the Egyptian Defence Attaché to the U.A.E. during a reception in Abu Dhabi yesterday evening to celebrate Egyptian Armed Forces Day and the 41st anniversary of the October War Victory in 1973.
"The late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, founder of the U.A.E., was one of the biggest supporters of Egypt, its people and its army," he remarked. Quoting the late father of the nation's words, "Egypt is the heart of the Arab Nation," Shalabi pointed out that this approach has been continued by President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
Egypt's Defence Attaché also praised the generous stance of His Highness General Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the U.A.E. Armed Forces, towards Egypt, noting that His Highness Sheikh Mohamed and H.H. Sheikh Hazza bin Zayed Al Nahyan, National Security Advisor and Deputy Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Executive Council, visited Egypt on a regular basis and that Egypt remains in their hearts.
He also praised the position of H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the Foreign Minister, for his pro-Egyptian stance, saying, "We will never forget the lion of Arab foreign policy, H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, when he stood before the UN General Assembly, explicitly announcing that the safety and security of Egypt goes hand in hand with the security of all Arabs and that it is indisputable that no one has the right to interfere in Egypt's internal affairs, under the context of the distinguished relations between Egypt and its brotherly Arab countries." Shalabi expressed his thanks to the U.A.E. for its diplomatic and economic support of Egypt, saying, "I would like to give thanks, appreciation and respect on behalf of the people of Egypt and its army to the U.A.E. - a country of generosity, peace and security - and to President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan for his diplomatic and economic support of Egypt, as well as to Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, His Highness General Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the U.A.E. Armed Forces, Their Highnesses the Supreme Council Members and Rulers of the Emirates and the Crown Princes of the Emirates." He went on to say that the memory of the glorious October War - a war of pride and dignity - will continue to be celebrated. He then took the opportunity to pray to God Almighty to keep victory on the side of the leaders of the Egyptian Armed Forces, the people of Egypt, the Egyptian army, and all Arab and Muslim nations.
The event was attended by a number of state officials and ambassadors of Arab and foreign countries accredited in the state, military attaches of Arab and foreign countries, including Ihab Imam, Egyptian Ambassador to the U.A.E. and a number of journalists and members of the Egyptian community in the country.
