London - Arabstoday

Didier Deschamps is not interested in talk about his future as he tries to take Marseille to a trophy this season. L'OM are ninth in the Ligue 1 table after a disappointing home loss to Dijon on Saturday, but have a winnable Coupe de France tie with US Quevilly ahead of them tomorrow. The Championnat National side are the lowest-ranked team left in the competition, and a win over them would put Deschamps and his men into the last four. Such an occurrence would provide the 1998 FIFA World Cup™ winner with some relief. "We are in ninth place in the standings, there is no glory in being the ninth," the former France captain told Mercato 365. "Today, we are far from our goals. The situation in the league is compromised. Realistically, if we are ninth, we do not deserve better. Five consecutive defeats in the league, obviously... I want to get a cup and get success in the Champions League before I leave here." While that game is tomorrow, there is no doubt as to the highlight of the round - Paris Saint-Germain against Lyon on Wednesday. PSG remain top of the table despite a surprise 2-2 draw with Caen at the weekend, while Lyon are a little off the pace in fifth place. Lyon's hopes of maintaining a challenge in the cup have been hit, though, by the loss of captain Cris to a calf injury which is set to rule him out of this game and the next month. "He is out for four weeks," said manager Remi Garde. "On Wednesday in Paris, in the quarter-finals of the cup, he will be replaced by Dejan Lovren, who is back from suspension." Girard takes one game at a time Also on Wednesday, Montpellier head to Ajaccio. Rene Girard's men failed to take advantage of PSG's draw with Caen by losing at Nancy, and are now two points behind them in the standings. However, the manager does not believe their confidence has been affected. "Who cares about Paris?" he said. "At the weekend we took zero points, it is not catastrophic. Everything is still feasible and now we have the cup. We take games one at a time." The final last-eight tie pits Valenciennes against Rennes. Both sides lost in the league at the weekend, with Toulouse beating Rennes 1-0 while Valenciennes were given a 4-0 hiding by Lille. And, as a result, Valenciennes coach Daniel Sanchez knows improvements are needed. "We need to be more enthusiastic than we were," he said. "We played in the wrong direction and I am worried by how we defended. It did not show the measure of quality we have in the team."
