London - Arabstoday

After scoring a superb double in Barcelona's sctintillating 4-0 victory over Santos in Sunday's 2011 FIFA Club World Cup final in Japan, Lionel Messi was presented with both the adidas Golden Ball and the TOYOTA Award after being voted the tournament's best player by FIFA's Technical Study Group (TSG). FIFA.com brings you an overview of all the individial prizes… adidas Golden Ball and TOYOTA Award: Lionel Messi (Barcelona) The reigning FIFA Ballon d'Or holder was the outstanding performer of the 2011 FIFA Club World Cup in Japan. Messi may not have managed to score in his side's 4-0 semi-final victory over Al-Sadd, but his fast-paced dribbling and clever passing ensured excitement throughout. The diminutive Argentinian then turned match-winner in the final, scoring two goals as Barcelona cruised to another 4-0 success. The inspirational No10 attracted gasps and applause whenever he was on the ball, and his spectacular displays made him a worthy winner of an award he also received in 2009. adidas Silver Ball: Xavi (Barcelona) The Spanish international was once again pivotal to Barcelona's success, initiating almost all of his side's attacks with pinpoint passes and winning countless important challenges in midfield. In the victory over Santos in the final, the 31-year-old played a delightful return pass for Messi to score the opener before adding the second himself with a clean low strike from around 12 yards. adidas Bronze Ball: Neymar (Santos) It may seem scant consolation after missing out on the 2011 FIFA Club World Cup title itself, but Neymar's performances for Santos were impressive enough to earn him the adidas Bronze Ball as the tournament's third-best player. The skilful attacker netted a wonderful opener in his side's 3-1 semi-final victory over Kashiwa Reysol and caused chaos in his opponents' defence on numerous occasions. The youngster was unable to find the target in the final, but his quick feet were a constant source of danger and again confirmed his status as one of the hottest properties in world football. Fair Play Award: Barcelona The newly-crowned FIFA Club World Cup winners were also the best behaved team of the tournament. Barcelona were shown just two yellow cards collectively in their two matches and committed only 25 fouls. The Fair Play Award caps off hugely another hugely successful year for the UEFA Champions League title holders.
