Egypt has dropped three places to 64 in FIFA’s monthly global football rankings, released on 7 March. The Pharaohs have not played an official competitive match in more than eight months since their surprising failure to qualify for the 2012 African Cup of Nations (CAN). Egypt, which used to be the leading team in Africa, has continued to drop out from Africa's top ten to 12th, being also the fifth ranked Arab team after losing the lead to Algeria three months ago and last month’s fourth place to Morocco. In their February’s training camp in Qatar under new American coach Bob Bradley, the Egyptians thrashed Kenya’s U-23 team 5-0, claimed a narrow 1-0 win over Niger before wrapping up the camp with a goalless draw against DR Congo. World and European champion Spain remains top of FIFA’s monthly world rankings, the Netherlands has regained second spot and Argentina returns to the top 10.
