Penn State's Khairi Fortt is heading to California, becoming the third player to leave the men's football program, the Stamford Advocate reported Wednesday. The linebacker will be eligible to play for the Pac-12 school immediately under an NCAA ruling in the wake of the Jerry Sandusky child sex abuse case that rocked the Nittany Lions football program, the newspaper said. Fortt follows running back Silas Redd and safety Tim Buckley out of Happy Valley, the nickname for Penn State, located in State College, Pa. Both Fortt and Redd, who transferred to Southern California, are from Connecticut. Buckley transferred Monday to North Carolina State.
