Robert Griffin III signed with the Cleveland Browns on Thursday in a bid to resurrect his career after being cut by the Washington Redskins.
The dynamic quarterback -- the number two overall pick in the 2012 draft -- lost his place in the Redskins starting line-up last season to Kirk Cousins.
The 26-year-old Heisman Trophy winner enjoyed a spectacular start to his NFL career, picked as offensive rookie of the year in 2012 and earning a selection to the Pro Bowl.
However his progress stalled after a series of injuries, culminating in the loss of form which led to him losing his place this season to Cousins.
"I'm excited about the opportunity to join the Dawg Pound and build something here in Cleveland," Griffin said of his move to Cleveland, referring to the Browns organization by its popular nickname.
"I'm just excited to come in and compete. Nothing's ever been given to me in my life. I just want to go out and compete with the guys and grow with this team."
Griffin's arrival comes after the Browns cut troubled quarterback Johnny Manziel. He is expected to become Cleveland's 25th starting quarterback since 1999.
Cleveland, who finished last season with a dismal 3-13 record, has the second overall pick in the 2016 draft and could yet bolster their quarterback options further.
