Tommy Hill says a pair of good results at the second round of the MCE British Superbike Championship at Thruxton will help him overcome his dismal start to the 2012 season at Brands Hatch. The reigning champion endured a horrendous opening round after crashing during the first minutes of qualifying around the Kent circuit, leaving him in 29th position on the grid. With treacherous conditions hampering his progress up the order come race day, Hill battled on the fringes of the points before falling again with just three laps remaining. With the second race of the day going on to be cancelled, Hill heads to Thruxton with not a single point to his name, a situation he is determined to rectify when action gets back underway this weekend. Targeting the podium at the very least, the Swan Yamaha rider is confident he will enjoy better fortune around the high-speed Hampshire venue. “We are going to Thruxton looking to get on the podium and score those important podium credits. I know we have the package with the Swan Yamaha and this circuit should give us another opportunity to develop the bike as it is so different from the Indy circuit. “I am eager to get riding again and put the disappointment of Brands Hatch behind us for good because we are confident that we can make amends for last weekend.”
