Two-time world champion Fernando Alonso has taken over at the top of the standings after his superb victory in Malaysia. The Ferrari star drove a controlled race to hold off Sauber's Sergio Perez, with Lewis Hamilton in third place for McLaren. Hamilton's teammate Jenson Button, who won the season-opener in Australia, was out of the points at Sepang. Two-time defending champion Sebastian Vettel also missed out for Red Bull after a late puncture.
