Atletico Mineiro moved two points clear of Vasco da Gama at the top of the Brazilian Campeonato standings after earning a point from a 0-0 draw away to third-placed Fluminense on Sunday. Cruzeiro lie fifth in the table after a 2-1 home win over Palmeiras in a game which saw both sides score penalties. Humberlito Borge scored both goals for Cruzeiro, the first a penalty, and Hernan Barcos replied from the spot for Palmeiras. Portuguesa won 3-1 against Nautico Recife despite going behind to Welker Almeida's goal after nine minutes. The home side replied through Magalhaes Moises (31), Monteiro Ananias (58) and Diego Viana Sehnem (87). Sao Paulo were 4-1 winners over Flamengo with Luis Fabiano scoring twice and Maicon and Rodrigues Jadson also finding the target. Ramon scored a consolation for Flamengo. Substitute Ezequiel Miralles scored a late winner as Santos beat Ponte Preta 2-1. Bruno Peres' opener had been cancelled out by Roger before Miralles won it with four minutes remaining.
