Madrid - Arabstoday

Real Madrid coach Jose Mourinho is refusing to get carried away by his side's impressive recent form. Since their disappointment of taking a total of one point from La Liga games at Levante and Racing Santander last month, Real have rattled up five successive victories, scoring 21 goals and conceding just three in the process. Last night they thrashed Lyon 4-0 in the UEFA Champions League, a result which leaves the nine-time European champions five points clear at the top of Group D after just three games and already within touching distance of a place in the knockout stages. Mourinho, whose side are also just one point behind top two Barcelona and Levante in La Liga, was pleased with the victory and his team's form, but the Portuguese is staying grounded. He said in AS: "I don't know if we are in the best moment since I arrived. Not long ago we dropped five points in the league. I like many things and others can be improved on, but we are in a nice positive moment. "Now we have a difficult fixture list. We are facing Malaga, Villarreal and Real Sociedad without barely a break. We need to see how these games go before talking about a good run of form." Group 'not easy' Real took the lead against Lyon when France international Karim Benzema struck against his former club in the 18th minute. Sami Khedira made it 2-0 just after half-time before a Hugo Lloris own goal and a late Sergio Ramos strike completed the scoring for Real, who have yet to concede in Europe this season. Mourinho, back on the touchline after serving his UEFA ban, said of the win: "We came and played well. From the first minute I had the feeling we were going to win this game. And it was important, because we have nine points, with Lyon and Ajax on four. We have almost qualified and now what we need is to finish first, because in principle that gives you an advantage." The former Inter Milan and Chelsea coach also dismissed any suggestion his side were drawn in a favourable pool. He said: "In our group we have a great French team, a great Dutch team and the champions of Croatia [Dinamo Zagreb]. "In others, the big teams are more fortunate because I've had to look on the internet to know where some of their opponents are from. The group isn't easy. What's happened is that we are doing a great job." Praise for Ronaldo Mourinho is also pleased to see his side picking up convincing wins even when the prolific Cristiano Ronaldo has not managed to find the back of the net. The Portugal international has scored eight times already this season but none of Real's last 14 goals have come from the £80million man. "I'm delighted with Cristiano. The big problem is when Cristiano doesn't score and neither do the team, like against Racing and Levante," Mourinho said. "In the last few games he hasn't scored but the team has. Last year he won the Golden Shoe and Pichichi. Maybe this year he will win more important things."
