NBA star Mullens gets UK passport to play at Olympics

The 23-year-old was born in Ohio but qualifies as his mother is from Middlesex. He has already posted pictures of his passport on Twitter, with a message 'Yessir. I will be in London this summer! 2012 summer Olympics.' Mullens is in his second season with the Bobcats after being traded from Oklahoma City Thunder, but is by no means guaranteed to start as his position - centre - is one where the team are strong, with players like Pops Mensah-Bonsu, Joel Freeland and Robert Archibald. However, his experience in the world's most competitive basketball league is likely to carry a lot of weight in the mind of coach Chris Finch. Chicago Bulls forward Luol Deng is already an established Great Britain player, and fellow NBA player Ben Gordon of Detroit Pistons, who was born in London, has confirmed his intention to play for the team.
