Former first overall draft pick Taylor Hall suffered a bad gash above his eye when he was cut by the skate of an Edmonton Oiler teammate Corey Potter during the warm-up. Hall, who was not wearing a helmet, collided with another Oiler and was sliding on his back towards the end boards when Potter tried jumping over the two to avoid a collision. Instead Potter's right skate came down on Hall's face cutting him for numerous stitches as the Oilers were getting ready to face the Columbus Blue Jackets in a National Hockey League contest. "It's a bizarre incident," Oilers general manager Steve Tambellini said. "It reminds us of helmets and that during practice or warm up or the game that things can happen." The 20-year-old Canadian was treated on the ice and then rushed to the locker room for multiple stitches. Hall did not return to play in the Oilers 4-2 loss but Tambellini said he is going to be fine. Hall was the first pick in the 2010 NHL entry draft and has been one of the Oilers best players recently, scoring nine points in the last nine games.
