Manchester - Arabstoday

The Red Devils boss has questioned the timing of his managerial counterpart’s comments regarding the title race and confirmed Paul Scholes will return to the side this weekend.Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson has criticised Roberto Mancini’s recent comments about the Premier League title run in.Mancini has openly conceded that the title is lost, but Ferguson believes his comments are premature."I think he has maybe picked the wrong time to say it - there are still five games to go. The Premier League is fascinating. Our experience will help us and Sunday's game is the one to focus on," he told reporters. The Manchester United manager is backing his side to recover from their midweek slip up away to Wigan. The gap at the top was closed from eight points to five on Wednesday, but the Scot explained that his side are used to this situation."The great part of our club is that we do recover, and we have to recover from Wednesday," he said."You drop points in the second half of the season. We have done it most years."There has been an odd year when we have gone on a long run without losing but a couple of years back we lost 4-1 to Liverpool and won the league."You do drop points on the run-in. City and ourselves have both experienced that."Sir Alex also confirmed that Paul Scholes will return to the United side for their weekend clash with Aston Villa and defended his decision to rest him against Wigan."Paul has shown his influence since he came back but I did the right thing to rest him on Wednesday," he continued."He will be fresh on Sunday and he will play."Fellow Scotsman Alex McLeish stands in Ferguson’s way on Sunday and he has praised the difficult job he has done at Aston Villa this season. He added: "Alex had a rough first year at the club, not being able to buy players and selling a few."It makes it difficult if you get injuries and he has had a couple of bad ones in losing [Richard] Dunne and [Darren] Bent, whose goals were a big loss."He has a lot of criticism from the fan base at Villa Park but he has handled the whole pressure very well."He is a very capable manager and I hope everything is all right for him."
