Dublin - AFP

Republic of Ireland manager Giovanni Trapattoni has dropped veteran trio Robbie Keane, Shay Given and Richard Dunne for next month's friendly against Serbia in the aftermath of his side's Euro 2012 flop. Trapattoni will leave the three experienced stars at home when his squad fly to Belgrade for their first match since a disappointing Euro campaign that ended with elimination at the group stage. Ireland, who lost all three group matches, were the first country knocked out of the Euros following a 3-1 defeat against Croatia and a 4-0 thrashing against Spain. Trapattoni has not completely called time on the international careers of LA Galaxy striker Keane, 32, Aston Villa goalkeeper Given, 36, and Villa defender Dunne, 32, but he is keen to take a closer look at some of his country's young prospects as he prepares for the 2014 World Cup qualifying campaign. Stoke defender Marc Wilson, Everton midfielder Seamus Coleman, Motherwell goalkeeper Darren Randolph and Millwall striker Andy Keogh are among the beneficiaries of Trapattoni's decision. Republic of Ireland squad for Serbia friendly on August 15: Goalkeepers: Keiren Westwood (Sunderland), David Forde (Millwall), Darren Randolph (Motherwell) Defenders: Marc Wilson (Stoke), John O'Shea (Sunderland), Sean St Ledger (Leicester), Darren O'Dea (Unattached), Stephen Ward (Wolves), Stephen Kelly (Fulham), Paul McShane (Hull) Midfielders: Glenn Whelan (Stoke), Darron Gibson (Everton), James McCarthy (Wigan), Paul Green(Leeds), Seamus Coleman (Everton), Aiden McGeady (Spartak Moscow) Forwards: Andy Keogh (Millwall), James McClean (Sunderland), Keith Treacy (Burnley), Kevin Doyle (Wolves), Shane Long (West Brom) Simon Cox (West Brom), Jon Walters (Stoke).
