Head of Beauty Salon owners Syndicate in Jordan, Eiad Samara, revealed an imbalance in the work ?of beauty salons in Jordan. The official revealed that many do not fall under the correct syndicate, according to the law regulation of professional work.? Samara said that the syndicate, which was founded in 1976, faces difficulties in improving its ?performance due to the absence of a law regulating salon work.? He pointed out that a draft law was submitted to the House of Representatives to be adopted by 13 ?deputies, and was referred to the legal committee in the council in order to discuss the draft. Samara called for a law to regulate the beauty profession in Jordan, categorising this syndicate ?as "professional" and in a similar box to health and medical care. ? Samara pointed out in his interview with Arab Today that the number of female beauty salons in ?Jordan has reached 5,500 with 22,000 male and female workers subject to social ?insurance law. Samara added there area currently 20 cases before the Jordanian court, filed by customers who were ?harmed by beauty salons, majority via the use of incorrect chemical products. "Some of the affected customers ask for compensation, amounting to 15,000 Jordanian ?Dinar, yet experts in the courts evaluate the damage worth not more than 700 Jordanian Dinars” Samara laments. ? Samara disclosed reasons behind uneven prices offered by salons in Jordan to be linked to the poor ?quality of products used.
