A homemade bomb went off on Sunday inside a mosque in the Egyptian capital Cairo causing no casualties, a security source said. A man in his 50s entered Nasr al-Islam Mosque in Al-Sahel district with a bag when his package exploded suddenly. The bomb left minor damage inside the mosque and the man fled the scene, but worshippers managed to seize his mobile phone, the source said. The Interior Ministry is yet to issue a statement on the incident. Egypt has been in the throes of violence since the powerful army ousted president Mohamed Morsi, the country’s first democratically elected president, on July 3 after mass protests against him.
