Two moderate earthquakes jolted Taiwan's Yilan and Jiayi Wednesday afternoon, according to Taiwan's meteorological authorities. The epicenter of the first quake, measuring magnitude 4.2 on the Ritcher Scale and at a depth of about 7.5 km, struck the sea 39 km northeast of Yilan at 2:36 p.m. local time. Another magnitude-4.1 quake followed at 2:57 p.m. local time. With a depth of 6.6 km, the epicenter of the second quake was located at 20.7 km east of Jiayi City, according to local meteorological authorities. Both tremors could be felt. No casualties have been reported so far.
