The Health Ministry said Thursday that 36 persons were mauled by a stray animal on April 15 and 16 in Fayoum and taken to the Fayoum General Hospital to get the necessary treatment and receive rabies vaccination. They have already been discharged after getting the required treatment, it said in a statement. The average cases of animal bites nationwide stands at 250,000 annually and the ministry provides rabies vaccination worth 35 million pounds every year that it distributes on all health directorates in the Egyptian provinces and in public hospitals to treat people for free, it said. According to the statement campaigns against stray animals are organized by the ministry in coordination with the Agriculture Ministry's Veterinarian Authority on a regular basis
