An earthquake measuring 5.2 on the Richter scale jolted 20km SSE of Lakatoro, Vanuatu at 20:30:39 GMT on Saturday, the US Geological Survey said.
The epicenter, with a depth of 10.0 km, was initially determined to be at 16.272 degrees south latitude and 167.5239 degrees east longitude.
