magnitude earthquake on the Richter scale has today rocked the Island of Okinawa in South Japan. No tsunami warning was issued, the Japanese Meteorological Agency said.
The quake occurred at 11:59 am with its epicentre north-west of the island at a depth of 220 kilometres, the agency said in a statement.
There were no immediate reports of injuries or damage from the quake.
