A powerful earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of 7.0 struck the Kamchatka Peninsula in far-eastern Russia, according to the US Geological Survey (USGS).
Reuters reported on USGS that the earthquake was centred 109 km north of Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky . It struck at a depth of about 153 km.
There are no immediate reports of damage and casualties and no tsunami warnings have been issued so far.
