The situation in connection with flooding in Komsomolsk-on-Amur is difficult, however, experts of the Russian Emergency Situations Ministry (EMERCOM) say that the situation is under control. On Thursday, the water subsided by 12 cm and currently is at the level of 872 cm, the ministry said. A total of 1,047 houses are flooded in the city where 13,380 people, including 2,352 children live. Household plots and four social facilities are also flooded. Seventeen apartment houses 500 private houses are disconnected from power supply. The weather in the region is cloudy, it is raining heavily and the air temperature is plus 6 degrees Celsius. A total of 17 temporary accommodation centres where 987 people are staying, have been deployed for the population affected by the elemental calamity. EMERCOM psychologists are working with the people. An air mobile hospital of the Centrospas air mobile search and rescue squad of the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations has been deployed in the rescue operation zone. The work to strengthen the temporary protective structures continues around the clock. On Thursday, about 30,000 cubic metres of soil and more than 20,000 sandbags were brought to them. The total length of dams in the region is 13 km and 1,000 metres of water-filled dams have been build additionally. The pumping out of water from the basements of buildings and neighbourhood territories continues. About 3 thousand people and more than 400 pieces of equipment are engaged in rescue operations in Komsomolsk-on-Amur. The water level in the Amur River near Khabarovsk at 08:00, local time, was 567 cm (minus 17 cm). In Nikolayevsk-on-Amur, the water level is about 249 cm. The Siberian flood crest on Friday passes the Takhta village in the mouth of the Amur River in the Bogorodskoe settlement - Nikolayevsk-on-Amur section. In the next 2-3 days due to the influence of the estuary the water level fluctuations here will persist within the limits + 5 -15 cm. The water level in the Amur River near Khabarovsk in two days is expected to decline by 30-35 cm, in Komsomolsk-on-Amur - by 15-20 cm.
