The Chinese Embassy in Myanmar has called on Chinese enterprises in Myanmar to extend aid to Myanmar' s flood victims.
According to a press release from the embassy, a coordination meeting was held on Wednesday; at the meeting, Chinese Ambassador to Myanmar Hong Liang stressed the importance of helping China's " Pauk Phaw" friends in the time of urgent situation.
Around 100 representatives from Chinese enterprises in Myanmar attended the meeting at the Chinese Embassy.
Representatives of the Chinese enterprises will launch a rescue mission under the coordination of the Association of China Enterprises in Myanmar.
As part of the flood relief mission led by Ambassador Hong Liang with the relief aid worth 300,000 U.S. dollars, officials from the embassy will visit flood areas in Magway Region Friday after the mission started in Sagaing region and Rakhine state.
Meanwhile, a ten-member team from the Chinese largest non- governmental humanitarian organization - Blue Sky Rescue Team arrived in Yangon Tuesday to extend helping hand to people affected by severe flooding.
According to the Ministry of Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement, death toll from the severe flooding across the country has risen to 69, with 259,799 people affected by the disaster so far.
The Ministry of Agriculture and Irrigation said that over 1 million acres of farmland was submerged in 13 regions and states in the country, of which Bago Region suffered the most with over 307,429 acres submerged.
Flooding caused by heavy seasonal rainfall since June has hit people from many parts of the country, destroying houses, farmland, railway lines, bridges and roads.
