An earthquake measuring 6.0 on the Richter scale, which occured in east basin of Mediterranean Sea at 5:21 p.m., hit the southern Antalya city of Turkey on Saturday. According to a statement made by the Prime Ministry Disaster and Emergency Management Presidency (AFAD), the epicentre of the earthquake was the east basin of Mediterranean Sea. Deputy Governor of Antalya Huseyin Ece, who is also responsible for AFAD, said no casualties had been reported so far. In addition to the city centre, earthquake was also felt in many towns such as Serik, Kumluca, Kemer and Manavgat. On the other hand, Bogazici University Kandilli Observatory and Earthquake Research Institute stated on its website that the earthquake occured 11 kilometers below the ground.
