Dense fog has enveloped Shandong and Hebei provinces in northern China, and Anhui, Zhejiang, and Fujian provinces in the east. The weather has caused severe delays, closing expressways and delaying several flights. In some areas, visibility has been reduced to less than 200 meters. At Beijing’s Capital International Airport, visibility is as low as 300 meters. By 11 PM local time on Sunday, nearly three hundred flights into the capital had been cancelled, with dozens more delayed. Chang Jun, Beijing Capital International Airport, said:?"So far, more than 270 arrivals have been cancelled. A light snow is forecast for Monday afternoon, and we recommend passengers confirm flights before deciding to change their itinerary, so as to avoid being delayed." The dense fog has also closed off some expressways. And traffic on the road remains extremely slow. Driver from Shandong province said: "My journey normally takes half an hour, now it’s going to take at least an hour and a half. ” China’s meteorological office says a strong cold front is now expected to reach central and eastern China by Wednesday, which should help clear the fog.
