Kuwait on Wednesday stressed that high interest in the preservation of environment and realizing development, making the best use of natural resources, the country's Ambassador to South Korea Jassem Al-Bedewi told an international gathering held there.
In this regard, Al-Bedewi stressed relevant directives by His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah and His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Jaber Mubarak Al-Hamad Al-Sabah.
He was addressing the 12th meeting of the Convention on Biological Diversity, which started today at Pyeongchang city, northern Korea, according to a press release by the embassy.
The event brings together 20 heads of international organizations, including the UN Development Program (UNDP) and the Global Environment Facility and environment ministers from about 50 countries.
The directives by the Kuwaiti Leadership have had effective influence on the progress of the environment work for making the best use of natural resources and preserving the environment for achieving sustainable development, he noted.
Al-Bedewi, who is leading the country's delegation to the global event, underlined keenness on carrying on with the implementation of several programs, plans and projects, as well as issuing legislations, for the preservation of the environment and biodiversity in the country.
