Kuwait got an award for the best power rationalization project for public and private buildings in the United States after being successful in reducing the proportion of consumption by more than five percent.
Head of the rationalization team for government and private sectors in the Ministry of Electricity and Water Iqbal Al-Tayyar told KUNA last night after receiving the award for the Middle East offered by Global Energy Engineering Society on the sidelines of the annual conference in Orlando, Florida, that this achievement came After the application of a number of methods that have been acquired through informational exchanges with the international community such as the development of appropriate insulators for buildings and turn them into smart buildings.
Al-Tayyar added that applying those methods on Kuwaiti buildings and other installations, "we were able to reduce the proportion of the electricity demand of those buildings in 2007 from eight percent each year to three percent", considering it a breakthrough that would contribute to the preservation of the environment in the State of Kuwait.
She said that she conveys this achievement to His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah and the Kuwaiti people
