Light quake hits Greek island of Cephalonia

A 4.7-magnitude earthquake jolted the western Greek island of Cephalonia on Saturday, the Athens Geodynamic Institute reported. No injuries were reported, according to local authorities. The epicenter was located about 13 km northwest of Argostoli city on the Ionian Sea island. The Euro Mediterranean Seismic Institute earlier put the magnitude at 5. Seismologists said the latest quake was part of "normal seismic activity" in the region, which was struck by a 5.8-magnitude earthquake on Jan. 26, followed by scores of smaller aftershocks. The January quake caused slight injuries and material damage. In 1953, a 7.2-magnitude quake inflicted hundreds of casualties and heavy property damage on the region.
