Greek authorities say an earthquake with preliminary magnitude 5 hit off the western resort island of Zakynthos, but no injuries or damage have been reported, according to AP. The Athens Geodynamic Institute says the undersea quake struck at 10:13 a.m. (0713GMT) Tuesday, and had its epicenter about 100 kilometers (62 miles) off the island's southwestern coast. The epicenter was about 350 kilometers (217 miles) west of Athens. Greece is one of the world's most earthquake-prone countries, and Zakynthos lies in an area of frequent seismic activity. But severe damage and injuries are rare.
