An earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of 6.1 jolted northeastern and eastern Japan on Thursday morning, the Japan Meteorological Agency said, adding no tsunami warning was issued.
No immediate reports of casualties or damage after the quake. The seismic centre of the quake was off Fukushima prefecture, the Japan Meteorological Agency said.
On Monday, a magnitude 7.4 earthquake rocked the same region, generating tsunami waves of up to 1.4 metres.
