A moderate earthquake with a magnitude of 5.5 on the Ritcher scale hit Indonesia at 5.43am today.
The Malaysian Meteorology Department said in a statement the quake's epicentre was at 666 kilometres southeast of Ambon in Indonesia and 1,674 kilometres southeast of Sarikei, Sarawak.
The quake does not pose a tsunami threat to Malaysia.
