A 5.7 magnitude earthquake hit Mongolia's southern province on Saturday, according to local media reports. The earthquake struck Dalanzadgad, capital city of Mongolia's southern Omnogobi province which borders China's Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, at 18:29 local time (0229 GMT) on Saturday. A number of Mongolian Gers, the nation's traditional residences, collapsed, while windows of several apartment buildings were shattered and their walls also collapsed. The National Emergency Management Authority of Mongolia has warned of aftershocks, but asked Mongolians not to be panic. An official with the emergency agency said the epicenter is in the desert area, and there are no reports of casualties, adding that Mongolia doesn't need any aid from the international community.
