The number of people seeking shelter from Malaysia's floods has risen to over 62,000, dpa cited a media report as saying Wednesday.
Torrential rain and high tides continued to pound the east coast states of Kelantan, Terengganu and Pahang, which are the worst hit, the Bernama news agency reported.
In Kelantan, more than 26,000 were forced to flee their homes while in Terengganu, the number of evacuees almost doubled to over 22,000, Bernama reported. In Pahang, the number of victims quadrupled to over 12,800 as major rivers overflowed.
