More than 200 hectares (494 acres) of woods are on fire in Siberia, with the area embraced by wildfires growing, Russia's News Agency (RIA Novosti) reported on Monday. "Seven forest fires are active in the Krasnoyarsk Territory and the Tomsk Region at an area of 206 hectares," the department said. The department said there is no threat to localities and industrial facilities. Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev on August 6 called for personal responsibility for forest fires across the country. In the summer of 2010, devastating wildfires swept across Russia, killing about 60 people, destroying thousands of houses, over 2 million hectares of woods and a quarter of the country’s grain harvest.
