President Joko Widodo expressed his belief here on Friday that the results of the agrarian reform the government is carrying out now would soon be seen minimally starting in July.
"Actually, the implementation has been done. Indeed, the small ones have not but later in August they will possibly have. Later in July more will be seen," he told newsmen.
He said the government continued to make the program to run as expected according to the scheme.
Through the land redistribution program the government hoped people could use the land for productive purposes that will in turn bring benefits to their economy.
"It is not a mere matter of land distribution. No, it is not like that. We wish to develop productivity meaning the land that we distribute must be made productive. They may not be left idle let alone being sold," he said.
Jokowi, as the president is also popularly called, said the government continued evaluating the community targets to receive the land.
"We will seek community groups, cooperatives, Islamic boarding schools that have the same vision and this is not easy as there are criteria that have been set," he said.
Regarding the goals of the program, Jokowi promised he would invite newsmen to see its realization later in July.
"It has just begun. Later in July it will be seen. I will invite you to see it," he said.
The agrarian reform is process of allocation and consolidation of land ownership, control and use by communities.
Through the program it is hoped productivity in the community would increase leading to national economic improvement and distribution.(*)
