Parts of Ibri received light to moderate rain on Tuesday, according to the National Multi-Hazard Early Warning Centre, which monitors weather conditions in Oman.
Dhofar, Al Wusta and Al Sharqiyah governorates are expected to receive rain until Thursday.
“There is, however, very little chance of Muscat getting any rainfall,” an official of National Multi Hazard Early Warning Centre said.
During this time the official has warned swimmers to be cautious as waves along Arabian coasts may become stronger and higher from Tuesday evening until Friday.
The sea state forecast predicts rough sea along the Arabian Sea coasts with maximum wave heights of 4 metres while it will be slight to moderate along the rest of Oman coasts with maximum wave height of 1.5 metres.
In its 24 hour outlook, the National Multi Hazard Early Warning Centre said mainly clear skies over most of the Sultanate other than Dhofar, Al Wusta and South Al Sharqiya.
“Then there are chance of blowing dust over desert and open area due to fresh wind,” it said.
On Monday, the met department had said a low tropical pressure system west of the Arabian Sea with average wind speeds of between 15 and 20 knots is approaching the Sultanate. Experts at the National Multi Hazard Early Warning Centre are constantly analysing the weather changes and the authority has asked that all residents keep a watchful eye on the centre’s updates.
