The northeastern coast of the US encountered on Monday the winter storm Wiley which forced closure of federal government and schools from Virginia, Washington D.C. to the state of New Jersey. The storm moved in four days and remained in the area until this mid-day. The snow accumulations broke several records for the date as Haywood, Virginia reported 13.5 inches of snow and 7 inches was recorded at Reagan National Airport in Washington. The runway at Reagan airport was closed for several hours on Monday. While across the U.S. there were 4,123 flight delays and 944 cancellations, according to Flight Aware. The Virginia Department of Transportation released a statement indicating that 2,000 trucks were deployed to clean up snow along highways, roads and neighborhood streets. There were no reported power outages in which residents hope for a quick return back to work and school on Tuesday.
