A heavy snowfall will begin in the Moscow region on Thursday, a forecast of Federal Service for Hydrometeorology and Environmental Monitoring (Roshydromet) says on Wednesday. Snowfalls, at times heavy are expected on Thursday. Snowstorms and winds up to 17 meters per second are expected overnight to Friday. Snow and rain are expected on Friday, Roshydromet says. Gusts of southeast wind will reach up to 17 meters per second. Temperatures will be from zero to plus two degrees Celsius in Moscow and minus two to plus three – in the region. Railway men have put on alert snow-removing cars that will clear rails of snow. Snow and ice build-up may damage power transmission lines. The Moscow Mayor’s Office strongly advises drivers to refrain from trips in the city and use public transport instead.
