A third consecutive day of severe weather was forecast for parts of the central United States already trying to recover from powerful tornadoes Monday and Sunday. The Storm Prediction Center in Norman, Oklahoma said large hail, powerful winds, and isolated strong tornadoes could hit areas of Texas, Arkansas, Louisiana, and Oklahoma on Tuesday. Forecasters said the greatest risk for severe weather Tuesday includes the Dallas-Fort Worth area of north Texas. The National Weather Service (NWS) is predicting flash flooding in parts of Arkansas and Louisiana as the storm system drops several centimeters of rain in a short time period Tuesday afternoon. The area at risk Tuesday does not include Moore, Oklahoma, where up to 91 people were killed and another 200 injured Monday afternoon as a 3-kilometer-wide tornado plowed through residential neighborhoods, two schools, and a hospital. Frantic search and rescue operations for survivors trapped under rubble continue Tuesday in the Oklahoma City suburb, where thunderstorms with heavy rainfall are expected.
