Firefighters were called out more than 70 times to sites across Slovakia between Saturday evening and Sunday morning to address damage caused by torrential rains in many areas of the country.
"They were busiest in western Slovakia," announced Zuzana Farkasova of the Slovak Fire and Rescue Corps presidium.
In Bratislava region alone, firefighters were called out to 28 locations, where they had to remove fallen trees, damaged electrical wiring, and cars. They also had to drain water accumulated on the roads and in cellars of people's houses.
Firefighter units were also dispatched to 35 locations in the Western Slovakia.
"Firefighters have their hands full in several locations in Bratislava and Trnava regions, where they're removing water from roads and removing cracked tree branches," said Farkasova.
