A film by Palestinian director Rashid Masharawi has been officially announced to compete at Toronto International Film Festival which will kick off on Sept. 5. Producer of Palestine Stereo Abdul-Salam Abu Askar said that the film would be screened six times, twice before journalists and critics, and four times before regular audiences. The film, according to Abu Askar, was shot in several West Bank cities in about six weeks. Dozens of Palestinian, Arab and international technicians worked on the film which starred Palestinian actors both from the West Bank and Israel in addition to hundreds of extras. It is directed by Rashid Mashawari whose previous project Laila’s Birthday was a critical success. His new film follows two brothers who were rendered homeless by an Israeli airstrike as they try to raise enough money to move to Canada.
