The National Library of the Abu Dhabi Authority for Culture and Heritage (ADACH) announced the opening of Al Bateen Library for children aged between five and fifteen years. The opening of the Children’s Library in conjunction with the start of the new academic year as part of ADACH's strategy aimed at linking the educational process with cultural development, and supplying all segments of society - particularly the students – with all the knowledge that helps them shape up their personality and stimulate their creativity. The two-storey library has many sections, including a separate section for children aged between five and ten years which provides stories, scientific books and references. It also has separate rooms for reading and educational activities. The library communicates with various schools of the UAE and coordinates different activities. In October, it will start a series of events to read some educational stories in both Arabic and English. Some of these stories comprise enriching information about the UAE’s inherent heritage. These stories carry educational goals about the ethics of respecting, appreciating and dealing with others and call for the importance of preserving the environment. ADACH has recently opened a new branch of the National Library in Al Nahyan Camp. The branch offers every day a range of services and programs that appeal to all groups and ages through selected collections of books which cover all aspects of knowledge, periodicals which include weekly and monthly magazines and scientific journals. The National Library offers its services seven days a week and receives students’ queries and suggestions over the phone 026576034 or by email nlibrary@adach.ae. ADACH continues its preparations to launch of a number of neighborhood and regional libraries in the coming period in order to provide library services and develop cultural awareness in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi. The National Library seeks to provide all forms of library services. The Bus Libraries come to complement the provision of library services to all sectors of society. These buses visit gathering places in schools, universities, hospitals and institutions to cover all categories. Every bus has a variety of printed materials along with digital books, games and programs. Five fully equipped buses roam all areas of Abu Dhabi.
